The darkness was thick and alluring,
No moon or stars in sight,
Yet the heaviness of sorrow griped me tight.

Seductive and sweet was the tempters call,
The apple I bit,
Tasty yet cold.

‚ÄčThe wet old staircase descending down,
A lonely spiral never to be seen or found.

Blindfolded, led and unable to see,
For the whispers of emptiness surrounded me.

Seductive and sweet was the tempters call,
The apple I bit,
Tasty and cold.

Heavy were the chains in the dungeon of the night,
As death slowly crept in unto my sight.

My broken heart yelled out and cried,
Then suddenly from nowhere appeared a light.

Through the dungeon window it brightly shone,
And my chains began to hit the ground.

As my soul stood to gaze upon thee,
The figure in light spoke and said,
I have come to set you free.

My heart began to beat with joy,
My soul forever singing the new song of life.

That love had a name and died for me,
His blood forever washing me clean.

Now watch me dance, shout and sing,
Forever O Lord,
I will bless the king!

“In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:4-5 KJV
“That was the true light, which lighteth ever man that cometh into the world.” John 1:9 KJV
