New Zealand is a laid back, beach loving culture, and home to hundreds of surf beaches on the North Island alone. When breath taking landscape meets pristine ocean waters of the East Coast to produce well-formed waves year-round, it truly is a surfers’ paradise!
This DTS caters to surfers of all skill levels. It is not essential that you can surf, beginners are welcome. There is a “learn to surf” weekend early in the school, where those who have never surfed will be taught, before heading out. Come and join us for an adventure of passionately pursuing God in the classroom alongside the other DTS streams, and then hit the waves every weekend with your fellow surfers. As well as surfing DTS students can also body board and skim board at the beach.
If you love sun, sea, sand, coffee, hot chips and surf culture, then grab your bibles and boards and come be a part of what God is doing amongst the surf sub-culture of New Zealand.
INFO The Surfers DTS has 12 weekends over Lecture phase where the surfstream will go out to local beaches either Maungawhai Heads, Waipu Cove, Ocean Beach, and Te Ari Point, out on the East coast of New Zealand. Not all 12 weekends will include just surfing, as we have 2 weekends that are set aside as "Free weekends" for the students to go out on their own, and explore some of the country side of New Zealand North of Auckland city. There are other activities that the Surf stream will be able to apart of, however they are weather dependent and subject to change at any point throughout the DTS. Wanting to Learn? There is a weekend early in the stream where all surfers will be taken to Waipu Cove and will spend an afternoon with a team of Surf Instructors. increasing the skill of those who already surf, and teaching those who are new. What to Bring Surfboards and wet suits are provided for all students, however if students have personal boards and wet suits we encourage you to bring them.
